Our Values

We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

Prayer and Worship

As a church and as individual members we maintain an intimate relationship with God, we are fervent in prayer – speaking to and hearing from God, and we make wor-ship not merely an event, but our lifestyle. By so doing, we are ambassadors of Christ in all our dealings on earth.

The Word of God

We are aware that due to lack of knowledge, many are underachievers. We wholeheartedly adhere to the principles of God’s word and share this word with con-sistently high standards, so that members can apply the word in all facets of their lives, on an individual and col-lective basis.

Leadership

We value the development of each individual as a lead-er, and equip members to lead purposeful, productive lives and to influence others to do the same. We use a holistic approach, including prayer, preaching, teaching, counseling, publishing, conferences, seminars, retreats, spiritual deliverance, personality profiles, supplemen-tary schools, drama, music and the arts. We foster an environment of involvement, in which every individual has an opportunity to serve.

Family

New J maintains a vibrant ministry to men, women, children, marriages and families to build strong family units with Christ as our foundation, and thus a stronger community.

Love and Acceptance

We have an open-arms policy of receiving, in the love of Christ all whom we encounter, regardless of age, race, gender, or personal background. Love is not merely a concept but our lifestyle. While allowing the love of God to heal and transform lives through us, we strictly adhere to his word, so that a spirit of holiness is maintained in our midst.

Giving

New J is a prosperous church and its members live in abundance by faith. As a church and as individuals we are cheerful and liberal givers, according to the direc-tion of God, transforming others’ lives, not just with our love, prayer and teaching, but also with our substance.

Honesty, Transparency and Integrity

As members of New J, we are people of our word. We walk in honesty, not only at church but in our families, place of business and every aspect of our lives. We do not wear masks with each other, but allow others to access our true selves. We speak the truth with each other and when necessary, use respectful, prayerful and open confrontation to arrive at mutual understand-ing and agreement.

Excellence and Result-Orientation

We provide awesome services in all that we do, with a spirit of excellence. We master time and are punctual with the stated schedule of our services. We are result-orientated, and implement goal-setting and monitoring systems to ensure that we are aware of the extent to which we are achieving what we set out to do, to the glory of God.

What We Believe

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.

  • About God

We believe in one God, revealed as Father in creation, as son in salvation and Holy Spirit as the regenerator/indwelling spirit (Deut. 6:4, 1 Cor. 13-14, John1:1).

  • About Christ

We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ was the only-begotten of the Father and is truly God and truly man, He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died vicarious and atoning death for the sins of the world, was resurrected bodily for our justification and now reigns in Glory until all things be put under his feet (1 Tim. 3:16).

We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • About Scripture

We believe in the absolute inspiration of the Holy Scriptures in their original autographs, given by the Holy Spirit without error as he moved upon holy men of old.

We believe that the church has no authority to establish doctrine or practice contrary in these same scriptures which were subsequently accepted canon by the early Christian Church (2 Tim 3:16).

We believe that God created man in His own image, that man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of sin, which is death physically and spiritually, and that all human beings inherit a sinful nature which issues (in the case of those who reach moral responsibility) in actual transgression, involving personal guilt.

We believe that justification is by grace and through faith in our Lord’s sacrifice on Calvary (Rom 3:2-24).

  • About Redemption

We believe that all people are to repent and be buried with our Lord Jesus Christ in the waters of baptism. (Matt. 28:19, Acts 2:38, Rom 6:4, 2 Peter 3:9).

We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is an endowment of power given by God to anoint the believer for sanctification and evangelism. It is our understanding that the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit are active within the body of Christ until the coming of the Lord. Furthermore, we believe that the development of these gifts ought to be encouraged under the guidance of Local Church authority (Acts 8:14-17, Acts 19:1-16, 2 Cor 12:7-10).

We believe that those who are called by the name of Christ should depart from iniquity, understanding the salva-tion from the penalty of sin only begins the process of redemption.

We acknowledge that one work of the Holy Spirit is to create in us the character of Christ (2 Tim 2:19).

With regard to submission to authority, we believe in the principle of being in authority because you are under au-thority. As such, it is understood that membership of New Jerusalem Apostolic Church shall be subject submission to authority in matters pertaining to Church government, doctrine and personal behaviour.

  • About the Church

We believe in the Priesthood of the believer, that is to say, all people born of God have equal status before God and direct access to their Lord (1 Peter 2:5).

We believe the identity of the body of Christ on the earth is primarily perceived through the local church. While encouraging the voluntary association of the local churches and recognising the need of consensus on matters of fundamental doctrine and conduct, we strongly confess the local to be sovereign and autonomous (Rev 2:3).

We believe the calling of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher are functional within the body of Christ until the Lord’s return. Furthermore, these ministries are gifts to the church for the purpose of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry that the body of Christ maybe edified (Eph 4:11-16).

We believe in the resurrection of both the just and the unjust, the eternal blessedness of the redeemed, and the eternal banishment of those who have rejected the offer of salvation.

We believe that the one true Church is the whole company of those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit; that the local church on earth should take its character from this concept of the Church spiritual and therefore, that the new birth and personal confession of Christ are essential of Church membership.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances; Baptism in water and the Lord’s Supper to be observed as acts of obedience and as perpetual witnesses to the cardinal facts of the Christian faith.

Baptism being the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ in burial and resurrection, and the Lord’s Supper being the partaking of the emblems symbolic of the Saviour’s broken Body and shed blood, in remembrance of His sacrificial death, until He comes.

We believe that divine healing was provided for in the Old and New Testament, and is an integral part of the Gospel.

We believe that the Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of the new birth and continuing until the consumption of salvation.

We have adopted the Nashville Statement, which expresses a Biblical view of sexuality and gender: we believe in heterosexual relationships between a natural man and a natural woman within the confines of lawful matrimony. Adherence to this stated principle of sexual behaviour is an inherent with New Jerusalem Community Church.

New Jerusalem Community Church is open to any further truth that the Holy Spirit may illuminate from the scriptures.

  • About the Kingdom

We believe in the literal second coming of our Lord, the literal rule of Christ upon the Earth, the resurrection of the regenerate to eternal life and the unregenerate to eternal damnation and the ultimate victory of the Kingdom of God. (Acts 1:9-11, Dan 12:2, Rev 22:1-7)
